What words of wisdom would you share with someone who is HIV negative?

If you are HIV negative always use a condom when you have sex - NO MATTER WHAT! If someone asks you the question “Why?” – tell the person it’s because you want to play safe. You never know if your relationship is going to be serious or not with someone so be precautious.

Don’t settle for less. Patience is a virtue! Always be patient if the person loves you enough they will deal with you in a respectful manner and honor your request to not have sex at all – or to have safe sex after taking the HIV test – when YOU are both ready. Together you can go through the process of testing. Love is not easy –it’s a commitment between 2 people. It is not all about sex and it is really about give and take.

It is important to make sacrifices and get to know the people with whom you want to be intimate. If someone loves you they will respect you. The gratification is so much better when you wait – I know from experience. You too will feel so much better. And if the sex doesn’t happen – you have made the right decision by communicating openly and honestly about your desire to have safe sex and protect yourself.
