Thank you for sharing your story. I am HIV neg and I am talking/dating this guy who has disclosed his status to me. He's HIV positive. I really like him a lot, but I get nervous when/if we are sexual. I've been researching what to do and not to do. Any suggestions?
Darrell, First of all: I commend you! I commend you for being strong and especially brave to share your story. Thank you. Thank you. Thank You. I just wanted you to know that I read the story before today but only got a chance to comment today. I am so happy that I saw the ad on TV...and decided to visit the site. Reading all of these stories, including yours (especially after reading how much caution you exercised and then that one time was all it took), reallllllyyyyy affected me. It actually made me not ever want to even so much as kiss someone without them getting tested. I do an HIV test once a year, not nearly enough I know....but this entire campaign has caused me to reallllly evaluate my practices and helped me to wise up.
Thanks sooooooo much Darrell for doing this. Thank you for being courageous.Thank you for being strong. Thank you for fighting to stay alive (by going on the meds)....I just want to say even though I don't know you personally, I love your spirit. Even though the road may get hard, keep thinking happy and positive thoughts. Hugs and Kisses.
I've always been a very open person, and find that I'm happiest and healthiest when I feel free to share anything I'm experiencing. I've benefited from open communication with friends, family, and sometimes even perfect strangers. That part of my personality hasn't changed with HIV, so I figured it was a great opportunity to use something that was very natural to me to hopefully have a meaningful impact. Thank you for being engaged.

Thank you for sharing!! Encouraged me to go get tested.
That's the best feedback I've heard since I started this campaign. Thank you for sharing that.
Thank you for telling your story thus far. Where do you get your courage to be so public about your HIV status?
