Life began for me on June 14th, 1977 born at 2:55 a.m. in my Hometown of Buffalo, NY – in “the hood” as many would say. In a low income and urban community. As a young child growing up in an abusive household filled with domestic violence and drug use by my mom and dad, life was very traumatic for me and my other siblings. Sometimes, all I could think about was running away and thinking if I ran away now, I would probably be running for the rest of my life. So instead I decided to deal with the situations at hand.

Around about eight years old, I remember a time of pure instability in our house. Always moving, I can remember going in and out of foster care and living in different shelters for battered women with my mom due to my dad’s constant physical abuse towards my mom. He would also beat me with an extension cord because I was not masculine enough.
